Dr. Mark L. Nelson

Dr. Mark Nelson completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah before attending the University of Oklahoma for dental school. He graduated from dental school in 1982 and completed his pediatric residency at Oregon Health Science University in 1984. He then returned to Utah and has been practicing in the Davis County area since that time. As a pediatric dentist, his goal is to provide the best possible experience for both children and parents, and to treat each child he meets the way that their parents want them to be treated.

Dr. Nelson completes continuing education courses each year to remain up-to-date with the latest treatment techniques. He completed a post-graduate certification in Orthodontics through the American Straight Wire Orthodontic Association in 1985, and in 1991 became a board-certified pediatric dentist through the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).

Dr. Nelson is a member of many professional organizations, including:

  • American Dental Association
  • American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Utah Chapter of the American Society of Dentistry for Children (in which he served as President in 1987)
  • American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (Diplomat)
  • South Davis Dental Society (in which he served as President in 1992)

Additionally, he served as the Program Direction of Pediatric Dental Residency at Primary Children’s Hospital from 1991-1994. He is also an Operation Smile Team Pediatric Dentist and has traveled all over the world to provide pediatric and orthodontic care to children.

Dr. Nelson and his wife, Marcie, have been married since 1980. They have five children. When not in the office, Dr. Nelson enjoys golfing.
